Laser & Light · Wheeler District, OKC

Light does
the work.

Both of these treatments fire light that does nothing at all until it lands on pigment — a sunspot, a broken capillary, the melanin in a hair. It turns to heat exactly there, and nowhere else. That is the whole trick, and it is why the results are so precise.

How it works

The light is looking
for something dark.

Light passes straight through skin that has nothing to absorb it. When it meets pigment — brown in a sunspot, red in a capillary, melanin in a hair shaft — that energy stops and turns into heat. The target takes the damage. The skin around it does not. Which target you are aiming at is the only real difference between these two treatments.

What each treatment is aiming at

This is also why laser hair removal needs dark hair to work on. Pale, fine or grey hair gives the light nothing to absorb.

01 · IPL Photofacials

For the damage that shows up as color.

IPL fires multiple wavelengths at once rather than the single wavelength a traditional laser uses, which is why one session can work on brown and red at the same time. Sun damage, freckles, age spots, broken capillaries, the flush of rosacea — all of it is pigment sitting where you would rather it did not.

  • Reduction of sunspots, age spots and freckles
  • Decreased redness and broken capillaries
  • Improved skin tone and clarity
  • Softer fine lines and smoother texture
  • Treatable on face, neck, chest and hands

Expect treated spots to darken before they flake away on their own. That is the treatment working, not a reaction.

02 · Laser Hair Removal

Put the razor down.

The laser finds the melanin in the hair, heats the follicle, and shuts down its ability to grow back. Most people reach permanent hair loss in three to seven sessions — hair comes in finer and sparser the whole way through, so you notice it working long before you finish. The occasional touch-up down the road keeps it there.

  • Targets dark, coarse hair while leaving surrounding skin undamaged
  • Each pulse covers about a quarter-sized area per second
  • Treatable on face, legs, arms, underarms and bikini line

Before your appointment

  • Avoid sun exposure and tanning
  • Do not wax or pluck — the laser needs the root that waxing removes
  • Shave the area the day before
Laser and light, the quick read: a typical IPL session runs 30 to 45 minutes, hair reduction takes three to seven sessions, and the laser covers a quarter-sized area each second.

What actually happens

Three steps, one visit.

1

Consult

Your provider looks at your skin type, your hair type and what you are actually trying to fix. Some skin tones and hair colors are not good candidates, and you will hear that here rather than after you have paid for a package.

2

Shield and treat

Protective eyewear goes on, the skin gets cleansed, and the device does its work. Most people describe it as a quick snap of light against the skin.

3

Go

Mild redness or warmth that settles within hours. Sun protection afterward is not optional — new pigment is exactly what you just paid to remove.

Questions

Asked constantly.

Does laser hair removal last forever?
No, and it is worth saying that first. The laser slows growth and most people see permanent loss after an average of three to seven sessions — but it usually does not clear hair permanently on its own, and maintenance treatments may still be needed. Anyone promising you permanence is selling something.
Will it work on my hair color?
It needs dark, coarse hair. The laser works by being absorbed into the melanin in the hair shaft, so pale, fine and grey hair give it nothing to grab onto. Your consult confirms whether your hair and skin are a good match before you commit to anything.
How many IPL sessions will I need?
Some improvement can show after a single session, but a series is usually recommended for the best result. There is no fixed number to quote you — it depends on how much pigment is there and how your skin responds, and your provider will map that out at the consult rather than sell you a set package.
Does it hurt?
Most people describe it as a quick snap of light against the skin. Afterwards there is mild redness or warmth, and that typically settles within a few hours.
Why did my spots get darker?
That is expected and it means it worked. Treated pigment rises and darkens before flaking off naturally, leaving brighter, clearer skin behind. Do not pick at it — let it come away on its own.
What does it cost?
It depends on the area being treated and what you are treating it for, which is why pricing is set at the consult rather than online. Wheeler memberships bank a monthly credit, which is how most regulars pay for maintenance. Laser usually runs as a course rather than one appointment, and a course can go on a payment plan.

a good candidate.

Not everyone is, and that depends on your skin tone and your hair color more than on anything you can decide from a website. The consult is fifteen honest minutes.
